An unexpected visit
"I'm hungry.", Jennifer brought to my attention, with the usual globes she tends to have in her eye holes in these moments. Supported by a loud growl coming from her belly, she pushed me out of bed, as magically, the doorbell rang. Putting on a pair of trousers, I made my way to the door.
"Hey, I got you some noodles from the Chinese next door. May I come in?", Benedikt asked, yet forced his way into the 50 m² apartment anyway. "Did she put you up to this?" - A wide grin on his face was all I would get for a response.
Jennifer, having eagerly awaited his arrival, already snatched the bag holding what promised to be the food rations for the day. As I approached to take my share, she turned around, hissing, then petting the bag repeatedly saying ""My nooooodleeesssssssss..." to herself, in the creepiest voice she could possibly talk in and in an obvious reference. "So you prefer your new treasure over me? Then I guess you're fine if I move out tomorrow."
In a loud scream she threw the bag in the air, punched it away and ran to cuddle in my arms. "No fair!", she cried, whilst clinging at me with all her might. "You'd have to take me with you! I'm your pet, after all!" "If you know that much, why did you throw away the bag? Now it's all mine 😈", Benedict threw the bag into the scene, and a noodle-armed battle for the noodle boxes took place.
Two boxes of noodles later, Jennifer fell asleep and Benedikt took the word: "You know, you have to do something about this at some point. It can't always be this way." "Can it not? She seems to like it just the way it is", I contered, petting Jennifer's head with my palm. "Well, be it as it may, I gotta go again - you two take care, okay?" - Benedikt gave her a twinkle after noticing she's awake after all, yet keeping it for himself. "Well, the moment the cat jumps in the water to save herself from the boat, I know I will have to do something. Until then, I'm confident it will be just right."
Purring below my hand, Jennifer asked Benedikt to get going and not be held off for too long - understanding exactly what she was getting at, Benedikt chuckled and went on his way.
