2 Worlds, One journey. (part 1, Introduction)
Introduction:
Drip, drip, drip, the sound of water dripping on a stone floor is what I stirred to, opening my eyes with my head pounding to the dripping sound. Not a moment later did i find myself in a dark, torch-lit room, wooden columns holding up a grid wooden frame well above my head and the faint whisper of voices not too far off, but far off enough to not be aware of my presence although clearly sounding distraught, my first instinct was to go see what was wrong and at this point I had few other choices to figure out what was going on. I placed my hands on the floor and stood up, clutching my head as I paced lofty towards the voices, the distinct voice of a girl is what I heard as I drew closer."Oh my god! I can't believe we're in this mess, and how many of us are there in a room with no way out!?". The girl shouted angrily just before noticing me walking up and jumping back with a shriek. "Zombie!" She shouted and I saw no less than five other figures in the dim glow of the torches spin on their heels to face me.
"Tha's not a zombie ye half-wi'. Just another poor soul stuck in the room". A slight Scottish accent spoke to her, sighing heavily.
"So what's your story friend? I bet I can guess, but you'll have to tell us to be sure". A clear Englishman if I ever heard one, and as I thought to answer his question, I realized I didn't know my own name and no memory of anything that happened before waking up. All I could do was stare at the Englishman blankly as I walked into view of the last four hidden behind columns, I simply shrugged my shoulders at him forgetting that I still remembered how to speak.
"Well, that can't be helped, so ten people that makes us now, all here with no explanation, no memory, and no names". The Englishman sighs heavily and the girl begins to panic again, babbling incoherently as a friend of hers tries to calm her down before she breaks down into tears. I peer around at my surroundings again and down a corridor between columns, I spot a door, simply raising my hand and pointing at it.
"Was... that there before?". I asked raising an eyebrow and I had but a moment before everyone looked and stampeded for the large double doors, made of wood and iron. I narrowly managed to avoid getting bowled over at the last second by someone who looked like one of the columns, broad-shouldered and muscled excessively. When it was safe to do so, I followed them as they tried their best to open or break the doors down, the Englishman being the first to back down as it was clearly no use, they weren't budging an inch and shortly after the whole group sat around the door, baffled by the strange events unfolding around us.
"Giving up already? I thought you lot would be the most tenacious out of my little play-things".
These words froze the group a moment before spinning and facing now pure darkness, except for the torches around the door. Those words were chilling and eerie, sending shivers down all our spines.
"Whose there? Show yourself!" the Englishman shouted into the darkness.
"Thas right ye wee bastard! Come on oot so we can see ye!". The Scotsman also retorted, clearly agitated.
"Oh this WILL be fun, I can tell." The voice said, an ominous giggle issuing from his, before appearing on one of the crossbeams above head.
"Now, before you go asking questions and demanding answers or you'll 'Pound me fookin 'read in' You should know I'm a fair game-master, so all shall be answered in good time, so please be quiet through this little, introduction".
We all seemed more than a little skeptical at this but followed his wishes, remaining silent as he dropped from the beam with grace.
"My name, is Theon Andronine Helendrose, but you can call me the ruler of this realm, and I've brought you all here because, well frankly I'm bored and needed some playthings to amuse me". At these words, I could feel the whole group tense and many of the men pull fists, ready to charge this seemingly regal figure.
"Now, you've all noticed by now that you don't have any memories, this is by design and you can get them back, as well as return to your home by completing one, simple, task. Reach my keep, gain access to my throne room, and challenge me to keep my word, after all, a gods word is his bond." He chuckles slightly and before anyone could argue or combat his little game he vanished in a plume of smoke and the doors behind us began to open, none of us knew what awaited us, and we all doubted it would be as easy as it seemed. All would be revealed as the ten of us stepped out into blinding sunlight, to look on a horizon and begin something none of us thought possible.
