I wonder what it's like

Conor, weary of the day's work wanders into the home, clicking on his computer and it whirs to life, walking half-heartedly to his kitchen and making himself a cup of bitter, unsweetened black coffee as he trudges back to the now lit screen. Sitting down and making himself comfortable he sits and reads through what is hundreds of messages from Jennifer, the lovable Neko in his world. However what he reads soon makes him sigh lightly and utter the words "I wonder what that's like." sipping his coffee and continuing to read, envious of the words his retina's display for his brain. He soon finds himself drifting off into his own thoughts, ceaseing to read the messages. "So where do you want to go after the movie?" Conor is asked by a young woman in the seat next to him in his old beat up car, it is the only one he can afford at the time. The girl having black hair and a sweet smile as soft ballads play from the radio, her clothes a pair of blue denim jeans...

Recipe for disaster, or how to write a short story

Many a time I find myself unable to come up with a proper subject or idea to get into and write in here. I guess inspiration does depend on one's tiredness, and that it can't be at its optimum every single day, but I know this: there's a secret. A sort of magician's hat out of which you pull ideas and put them together. It goes like this: - Pull a set of 3 random words from the dictionary - Make a situation out of them, the funniest one you can if possible - Throw a couple of people from a predefined list of characters into it - Mix it all together - Add humor and a good pint of irony - Shake it all up until you start getting bubbles - Add two frog heads and a crow foot - Smash and stomp it into a dough-ish mass - Add water to the mix and blend it in, until it's liquid enough that you can paint with it - Get it all on your desktop's screen, preferrably a 24'' one so that it fits appropriately - Let it dry - Using a sheet of A3 paper, press i...

Booting up

Sitting on a hard chair for hours isn't the most comfortable thing to do, especially if all there is to do is carefully watch the newly fabricated robot battery charge, and hoping it doesn't explode because of a potential overvoltage. So there I sat, after days of conceiving and tinkering with the shell for which Markus had been preparing the software for ages. I had my doubts about the hardware he had me install in it, particularly in terms of memory, but in the end it was his call. As I drifted into daydreaming for a while, I figured it would be a great idea to dwell on the pile of plans sitting on the opposite table, silent witnesses of the countless hours spent on this gigantic project: a fully functional android, built complete with more complexity than anyone had ever been able to build. Almost human, as Conor liked to say it, but not quite as human as we are. That comment eventually came out often enough that it had us strive to achieving something even more convincing...

Home alone

"Come back safe!", I said with a kiss and closed the door behind him. "Now... What do?", I thought to myself, zapping through the game and movie library in my mind as I head to the kitchen to eat my breakfast. Ham and eggs, as he does seemingly every morning he feels like giving me a treat. I'm emptying my plate into the black hole I'm calling my throat, stand up and make my way to the living room, starting the TV. Moments later, the home server greets me with a login screen, I grab the wireless keyboard and log in, head onto the movie library and start watching fairy tail. The subs are somewhat off, but it's still more than enjoyable. Hours pass and I keep watching episode after episode, waiting for a message from Jo or Markus to come back. As I take a look at the clock, my breath stopped - 8pm. About thirty minutes for Markus to come back. I race to the bathroom to wash my face and cause a little general chaos to fake that I actually was somewhat act...

2 Worlds, One journey. (part 2, Chapter 1:The nameing Ritual)

Chapter One: Naming Ritual. The first sights of a familiar but all too different world greeted us, with an open field to our right and light forest to our left down an old dirt road towards a small town in the distance, buildings and a high wall made of Stone and wood. "Well, we best get a move on to somewhere we can find out what's going on." The brit states bluntly, however, everyone is in agreement. I look around at the group as we all start walking, taking better note of those around me. The first I took note of the was the Englishman, now able to get a solid look at him, he was dressed casually but smartly, his features soft but mature, black short hair, lightly spiked but neat with a red cardigan and collared shirt mixed with black jeans and comfortable sneakers. The Scotsman was next in eyesight and he seemed to be a blonde fellow with a large jacket on, seeing from behind I could only see his blue jeans and big work boots. Jumping from him the next one to cat...

2 Worlds, One journey. (part 1, Introduction)

Introduction: Drip, drip, drip, the sound of water dripping on a stone floor is what I stirred to, opening my eyes with my head pounding to the dripping sound. Not a moment later did i find myself in a dark, torch-lit room, wooden columns holding up a grid wooden frame well above my head and the faint whisper of voices not too far off, but far off enough to not be aware of my presence although clearly sounding distraught, my first instinct was to go see what was wrong and at this point I had few other choices to figure out what was going on. I placed my hands on the floor and stood up, clutching my head as I paced lofty towards the voices, the distinct voice of a girl is what I heard as I drew closer. "Oh my god! I can't believe we're in this mess, and how many of us are there in a room with no way out!?". The girl shouted angrily just before noticing me walking up and jumping back with a shriek. "Zombie!" She shouted and I saw no less than five other fi...

Dreaming Memories.

There arn't too many dreams i can remember throughout my life, but one dream has stuck with me. I remember it starting out with me in what appears to be a limo. Comfortable leather back seats with a long interior, tinted windows, a miniture fridge on the right side of the vehicle with doors only on the left for some reason. I was the only person in the vehicle other than the driver and i remember feeling, inadequate, almost hopeless and in a short moment we arrive at what appears to be a beach side party at a drinks shack. The shack itself was made of mostly straw exterior and had a bar as well as a large seating area, all looking out to the ocean, with the scenery and people being made up of various bright and cheerful colours. I make my way there through a massive crowd, taking up a very large parking area all the way to the drink shack and they were all faceless anthropomorphic creatures, cheering my name and as i walked through the crowd i was giving high-fives and finger gun...
